On January 1, 2020, the Arbitration Rules of the World Arbitration Centre Arbitration came into effect, marking the launching and operation of the World Arbitration Centre (WAC).

The World Arbitration Centre is a permanent commercial arbitration institution registered in Hong Kong in June 2019 under the Hong Kong Business Registration Ordinance. The World Arbitration Centre is completely independent of the government or other public authority departments. It aims to provide an independent, fair and professional dispute resolution platform for arbitration users worldwide, and resolve contractual or non-contractual disputes fairly, quickly, economically and finally through arbitration. The Centre handles international and domestic (local) arbitration cases and can assist ad hoc arbitrations.

Hong Kong has good rules of law, high quality services and diversified talents, and it is internationally recognized as a popular and attractive arbitration venue. The establishment of the World Arbitration Centre is a welcoming achievement in the development of arbitration in Hong Kong. It provides a new option for parties to use arbitration services worldwide.

The arbitration rules of the World Arbitration Centre are carefully crafted by veterans of international arbitration. The rules have absorbed the essence of arbitration culture between the East and the West, and responded to the arbitration concerns of the parties to commercial transactions. The parties and arbitration practitioners are welcome to pay attention to and use this brand new platform.
